Bye bye library

The last day for the Riley Park library is Sept. 17. The new Terry Salman branch at Hillcrest Centre is to open in October. Materials borrowed from Riley Park that are due after the closure may be returned at any branch.

Farmers market

The first farmers' market in South Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­continues through October, and then runs Nov. 9 and 23, and Dec. 7 and 21. The Unitarian Church is operating the market that includes all organic produce, eggs and meat, live music and a garden for kids.

These next couple of weeks mark the end of many outdoor events and activities across the city. There are also several parks enjoying revitalization through redevelopment that deserve a second look. They include Norquay, located at 5050 Wales St.

Block party

Megaphone's annual Victory Square Block Party will celebrate the community and Vancouver's local music scene, Sept. 4. The free event features seven local bands, DJs and comedians.

Election office open

The city has opened the 2011 election office and launched the election website to provide information to voters and prospective candidates in advance of the Nov. 19, 2011 municipal vote. The website, vancouver.
