The last day for the Riley Park library is Sept. 17. The new Terry Salman branch at Hillcrest Centre is to open in October. Materials borrowed from Riley Park that are due after the closure may be returned at any branch. Patrons wishing to use an alternate location of the library until the new facility opens could consider:
. Oakridge Branch, 191650 West 41st Ave. (in the Oakridge Mall).
. Mount Pleasant Branch, 1 Kingsway.
. South Hill Branch, 6076 Fraser St.
. Kensington Branch, 1428 Cedar Cottage Mews.
Patrons can renew their library materials at any branch, by touch-tone telephone though Telecirc at 604-257-3830, or online at vpl.ca. For help, call circulation at 604-331-3670. Patrons who have requested that library items be sent to Riley Park should speak with staff about changing the preferred pickup location at their earliest convenience. The Terry Salman branch is a full-sized community library that is almost six times larger than the Riley Park storefront branch. Open an additional 43 hours per week, the 7,500-squarefoot facility will offer a larger and more-diverse collection of books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and DVDs. The branch will also include expanded reference, information, children's, teen's and adult services, programming and training in areas such as computers and electronic resources, job searching and resume writing.
