Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police have a suspect in custody for an attack on a woman at a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»bus stop.

The incident occurred Tuesday (Oct. 5) at a bus stop at the intersection of Knight St and East 57 Ave. The woman, 22, was waiting at the bus stop when a man approached her, according to a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department press release.

"The man showed the woman a condom and a pornographic image on his phone before propositioning her for sex," state police. "When the woman refused and walked away, the man kicked her from behind and knocked her to the ground."

Luckily the woman wasn't seriously physically injured and was able to get back up and run away.

The man also fled the scene.

Police were able to get security footage from nearby, which was shared with the public on Thursday.

“An alert security guard at Pacific Centre Mall recognized the suspect," said Constable Tania Visintin, VPD in a media release issued Friday. The security guard immediately contact the VPD.

The 21-year-old suspect remains in custody at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the VPD's sex crimes unit. Anyone with information is asked to call them at 1-604-717-0600.

However, police are still warning people to be vigilant.

"The violent and sexual nature of this incident has us very concerned for public safety,” said Sgt. Steve Addison Thursday. “We’re telling the public about this case, because we’re worried someone else could get hurt.”
