A Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»repeat offender has pleaded guilty to arson, assault and shoplifting charges with sentencing likely in May, a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»provincial court judge heard April 11.

Mohammed Majidpour, 35, was accused of torching a car. Court documents filed Jan. 30 allege that, on Sept. 27, 2022, he caused damage by fire or explosion to a motor vehicle.

In October, two Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police officers saw the man walking near Main and Hastings streets while patrolling in East Vancouver.

They were familiar with Majidpour because they had arrested him a day earlier.

He was previously wanted Canada-wide for an alleged attack on a woman. That attack involved hitting a 19-year-old student over the back of the head with a pole near Hastings and Cambie streets. The attacker uttered a racial slur before fleeing.

The officers followed him into the H&M store in the downtown core Oct. 16, 2022 where Majidpour allegedly stole $330 worth of leggings.

He was subsequently arrested after being out of custody for two hours and 18 minutes.

Majidpour is facing other shoplifting and assault charges, court documents show.

It is alleged that, on July 29, 2022, Majidpour stole merchandise valued less than $5,000 from an Old Navy store in Richmond.

It's further alleged that, on March 19, 2021, he assaulted a woman with a weapon and also made threats to cause death or bodily harm to a woman in Vancouver. He's due in court May 19 on those charges.

Online court information shows guilty findings for a Mohammed Majidpour for assault with a weapon, theft and probation breaches.
