A repeat offender is back in custody just two hours after being released from jail.

Two Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police officers saw the man walking near Main and Hastings Street while patrolling in East Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»around 3 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 16).

The officers were familiar with Mohammed Majidpour, 35, because they arrested him the day prior. He was previously wanted Canada-wide for his alleged attack on a woman.

The attack involved hitting a 19-year-old student over the back of the head with a pole and using a racial slur before fleeing the area.

The officers followed him into the downtown core where they saw him commit a new crime. Majidpour allegedly entered a retail store and stole $330 worth of leggings. He was then arrested after being out of custody for two hours and 18 minutes.

Majidpour has been charged with theft under $5,000 and remains in custody. His next court appearance is Oct. 27.
