Since 2004, Executive Chef Frank Pabst has championed sustainable seafood with Unsung Heroes, a special menu highlighting underutilized yet delicious species. In partnership with Vancouver’s Ocean Wise Seafood Program, this annual event offers a lineup of creative dishes featuring lesser-known seafood, from Jellyfish Tanuki Soba to Smelt Tacos and Uni Cheesecake. Each dish is paired with a thoughtfully selected wine or sake. A portion of proceeds supports Ocean Wise’s efforts to protect marine ecosystems. Published on Main’s Burgundy Week invites wine lovers to explore the elegance and complexity of Burgundy wines, with a selection curated by wine director Jayton Paul. A special $25 corkage fee encourages guests to bring their own Burgundy selections to enjoy alongside the restaurant’s menu.

The second event in the Sommelier Showdown series features a head-to-head wine pairing competition at Five Sails in the Pan Pacific Hotel. Sommeliers Nick Bertoia and Randy Chafe will each select wines to pair with a four-course dinner crafted by Culinary Director Alex Kim, with guests voting for their favourites. Taste Sound: An Immersive Dining Experience at Burdock & Co
Burdock & Co kicks off its Taste Sound dinner series with an evening of sonic gastronomy featuring musician and biologist Tarun Nayar (Modern Biology). On February 20, guests will experience Chef Andrea Carlson’s Citrus Scented Rain Under a Snow Moon menu while listening to the bioelectric activity of its ingredients through biodata sonification. This multisensory collaboration explores the connection between taste and sound, offering a unique way to engage with food. Beverages available in addition include natural wines curated by Kelcie Jones, the 鶹ýӳMichelin Guide’s 2023 Sommelier of the Year and a signature yuzu cocktail created by the multi-award-winning bartender Jeff Savage (Prophecy Bar). “Smoky Thursday" aka Tsiknopempti at
Nammos Estiatorio celebrates Tsiknopempti, or “Smoky Thursday,” a beloved Greek tradition centred around grilled meats and lively gatherings. Guests can enjoy spit-roasted pork, skewers, lamb chops, and more, with a menu designed to showcase the rich flavours of Greek cuisine. Nammos’s a la carte menu will be available alongside its special Tsiknopempti Menu, which will include: Kontosouvli, slow-roasted marinated pork cooked on a spit outside; and Loukaniko, Greek sausage of pork or lamb with orange zest and a variety of herbs.

's bagel-making classes

Vancouver’s Japanese-style bagel shop is "rolling out" new bagel-making classes on select weekends, beginning February 22, 2025. Led by head baker Yukiko Iikura, these hands-on classes offer guests a rare opportunity to learn the art of making Wa-Bagel's signature chewy bagels. The classes are hands-on and small-scale, with only seven seats up for grabs. The classes are three hours long, during which the bakers can roll, shape, bake, and, of course, taste their own freshly-made bagels. All classes include complimentary coffee or green tea. While many of the initial run of classes are full already, there are some openings later this spring. There are three kinds of classes: Beginner Bagel-Making Class (Feb. 22, April 19, April 26); Beginner’s Filled Bagel-Making Class (March 8); and Beginner’s Matcha Cheesecake Bagel-Making Class (March 22).
