has been delighting 鶹ýӳlocals and visitors alike with its upscale seafood fare for a remarkable 20 years now, nearly 15 of which have been spent in its current location at 1054 Alberni St.
The Glowbal Group concept began back in 2003 in Yaletown, but shifted to its massive downtown space in 2009.
To mark its 20th anniversary, Coast is offering a special menu of $20 dishes representing fan favourites and classics from the restaurant's history.
The $20 menu features several seafood-centric dishes, ranging from sushi to steak topped with crabmeat, designed as share plates; they are smaller portions but aren't necessarily appetizers. A table could conceivably order a handful of the dishes to share and get a few different tastes, but not break the bank.
Some of the items, like the miso sablefish, are on the lighter side, with the tender, buttery fish presented in a black garlic broth with mushrooms and cabbage, whereas the clam and squid ink pasta is more on the richer side. The pasta, incidentally, comes with the bonus of being tossed in a torched pecorino wheel tableside, adding to Glowbal's roster of similarly-presented dishes that are quite popular (Italian Kitchen does a cacio e pepe in a cheese wheel at the table, too).
Coast's is available now through Oct. 20.
