Two years ago the food truck - a "jeepney"-inspired bus - hit the streets of Vancouver, turning food fans on to their playful Filipino-fuelled fare and "cheeky" vibes.
Owners Matt Brennan and Corvette Romero have not just kept the Shameless Buns engine running throughout the pandemic, they've also managed to grow their business, first by amping up their online local food product marketplace events and now by getting ready to launch a permanent restaurant location in Vancouver.
Shameless Buns is moving in at 5772 Fraser Street, previously the home of Tikim Asian Fusion restaurant.
Brennan and Romero confirmed the venture via e-mail with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», revealing that Shameless Buns the brick-and-mortar version is aiming to get up and running by mid-July.
Expect the vibes of a street-food stall in Manila - "with the 'shameless' touch, of course," add the owners.
Shameless Buns on Fraser will feature items from the truck menu - which is anchored on portable eats showcasing Filipino flavours and ingredients with the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»palate in mind. So you'll find a series of pandesal sandwiches, along with poutine-inspired loaded fries, Spam fries, and exciting specials like a mashup between Filipino spaghetti and lumpia.
To kick things up for the permanent space, Brennan and Romero say they will be putting some new restaurant-only items on the menu, though for now those dishes are being perfected for their debut.
More info about the new Shameless Buns restaurant should be out soon, and you can follow their Instagram () to see the current truck schedule and more.
