Amazing Brentwood opens chic food court that will even have its own pub

A total of 19 restaurants will be opening

Shoppers at the Amazing Brentwood have had to wander the shops for many months without a food court to satiate their hunger.

That all changed on Monday.

That’s when Shape Properties opened Tables, a chic 780-seat dining area that looks more like a hip downtown restaurant than a shopping mall food court.

Just look at the photos posted above and you’ll see some serious style, from the tables to the chairs to the lighting fixtures. The place is also flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows that run all along one side.

“We wanted a ‘wow’ factor and I think we’ve done that,” said Darren Kwiatkowski, executive vice-president of new development for Shape, who took the NOW on a tour earlier this week.

Many of the tables have electrical outlets for people to plug in their devices and there’s also an outdoor area with picnic tables for those warm and dry days (yes, we occasionally get those!).

There will be 10 restaurants opening soon, but there will be 19 in total and they include Chef Hung Taiwanese noodles, Soon Coffee, Kaneko Hannosuke, Saboten Japanese Cutlet, Bubble Waffle Café, Bona Fide Chinese barbecue and Japadog.

But get this, Tables will eventually include its own pub when Nat’s Kitchen and Public House opens its door. This is a new concept being launched by White Spot and it will fill a huge area and be accessible from the rest of the food court.

The pub will feature later hours that will fit with the expected openings of Cineplex’s Rec Room entertainment centre and its five-screen VIP movie theatre.

The Amazing Brentwood has three residential towers built, but will eventually have 13 total on the 28-acre property at Lougheed and Willingdon. As part of phase one, 1.45 million square feet of retail space has been built.

Two main sections of the mall are now connected by a skybridge.

The south side is all completely new construction.

It all begins with a grand open lobby with glass elevators, an escalator and a soon-to-open Small Victory bakery and coffee shop to greet shoppers.

Inside the mammoth building are a variety of different features, including lifestyle features like a fitness facility, brow bar and barbershop.

Then if you go outside, you’ll find the huge outdoor plaza that includes shops such as the new Sephora that just opened, a big Starbucks, plus such restaurants as La Taqueria and Gram pancakes. It will be a hub of activity and will host a variety of live entertainment shows utilizing its special rollout stage. OEB, an all-day breakfast place, has already opened and other food options are still being developed. But once this phase done, you will be able to walk anywhere around the Amazing Brentwood and still find a restaurant. There’s even going to be a two-storey McDonald’s.
