"This isn’t goodbye forever!" said the owners, who had operated out of a former DeDutch for only five months

Sunny Side Up, which opened in January 2024 on West 2nd Avenue near the Olympic Village SkyTrain station, is closed as of May 1, 2024. The breakfast and lunch spot plans to relocate, while a new business owner is already planning to open a different restaurant in the same space.

With its promise of breakfast plates under $8 a pop and daily lunch specials, Sunny Side Up cropped up at the start of the year to replace a former DeDutch outpost on the edge of Olympic Village.

Just five months later, Sunny Side Up's owners revealed on May 1 that the restaurant was now closed, with plans to relocate to an unspecified address sometime in the future.

"It’s been such a joy serving up sunny-side-up eggs and smiles to all of you!" shared .

A paper sign taped to the front door at 410 W 2nd St indicates that Sunny Side Up is closed for relocation.

"This isn’t goodbye forever!" continues Sunny Side Up's announcement online. "We’re excited to announce that Sunny Side Up will be relocating in the future, bringing all the same warmth and tasty treats to a new spot."

While when and where Sunny Side Up will reappear remains unclear, we do know that the just-vacated address already has a new business owner who is excited to launch her first restaurant venture, called Yume Japanese Fusion.

The first order of business, she tells V.I.A. during a brief in-person chat, will be to address the interior, which remains largely the same as it was during DeDutch's tenure at the location.

We'll keep an eye on the space for its next chapter and keep you posted. Those wishing to follow Sunny Side Up to its new location can keep up with them on Instagram via .
