After a six-year run, is saying so long to its very first location.
The popular casual plant-based café has blossomed since its debut at 611 Gore Ave, adding locations in Kitsilano, North Vancouver, and .
Known for its health-focused smoothies, bowls, and salads, Kokomo is the venture of Katie Ruddell, who added a business partner to the operations (and at home a newborn).
Ruddell says Kokomo in Chinatown will close up shop at the end of the month; their last day will be July 28.
“This location carries so many memories for me. It’s where I was able to actualize this lifelong dream of being a business owner and feeding my community," says Ruddell in a media release. "Since we opened the doors six years ago, both myself and the company have gone through so much growth—many ups and downs over the years!”
For those mourning the loss of Vancouver's OG Kokomo, fear not: The restaurant is essentially relocating to a space at 3435 Commercial St (next to Flourist). Once they are up and running there, guests will find all they love from the café's menu, and more. The East Van Kokomo will be home to the restaurant's popular Kokomo Burger, which has been a crowd-pleaser over the years at special events and pop-ups.
And with burgers come sides; Kokomo will introduce a line up of burger companion eats, like fries and onion rings.
The new Commercial St Kokomo will feature a light, bright design with nods to the original operation in Chinatown, so plenty of pink and curved lines, meant to give you summer vibes all year long.
An opening date has not been set yet for the forthcoming Kokomo in East Vancouver. Follow on Instagram for updates.
