New Japanese sushi spot opens in Richmond

The latest joint specializes in aburi oshi and inari sushi.

A new Japanese sushi joint has joined Richmond's food scene.

Zenbu Aburi officially soft opened at Aberdeen Square at street level next to Aberdeen Canada Line Station.

The sushi restaurant serves up 11 types of aburi oshi (slightly torched box-shaped) sushi, for example, classic salmon, unagi (eel) and ebi (shrimp) sushi. There are also three types of inari (tofu pocket) sushi, spicy salmon, negitoro and spicy tuna.

On its menu are also several appetizer items including miso soup, seaweed salad and sashimi salad.

Zenbu also offers sushi platters ranging from $75 to $95. The $95 option is a 46-piece omakase ("chef's choice") platter where the restaurant chef chooses the sushi for you.

From now until April 15, the restaurant is offering a 20-per-cent discount.

Zenbu Aburi is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
