New Lebanese restaurant replaces JamJar's South Granville location

South Granville has lost a Lebanese restaurant...and gained one, too

There's been a quiet switch up in South Granville, and while the neighbourhood has lost one of its beloved Lebanese restaurants, the good news is a fresh new venture offering the same cuisine has stepped in to take its place.

Lebanese Kitchen recently opened their doors at 1488 West 11th Avenue, in the space that had previously been home to JamJar.

JamJar confirmed with V.I.A. that they opted to close up shop in South Granville this spring, but are focusing on their trio of restaurants, with three locations in Metro Vancouver. The West 11th address had been their second location, having taken over the space when prior tenant Vij's Rangoli moved next door when Vij's flagship shifted to Cambie. This spring, that next door space opened up when Vij's merged Rangoli into the Cambie location, too.

On the menu at Mazahr are several "mezza" for mixing and matching for a feast, as well as lunch platters. Look for traditional Lebanese fare like falafel, beef shawarma, and shish tawook (grilled chicken skewers) with dips and salads like hummus, tabbouli, labne, and more. A number of the offerings are vegan or gluten free - or both. All of their meats are locally-sourced and halal.

Mazahr has several non-alcoholic beverage options, including Lebanese- Turkish coffee, espresso drinks, kombucha, and several brewed teas. They also will allow you to BYO wine.

"Mazahr represents passion for food, people, stories, connections and hospitality," says the restaurant. "We offer a taste of Lebanese home cooked food and Lebanese hospitality."

Currently Mazahr is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m.
