What started out as Just Another Coffee Shop in Kitsilano ultimately gave way to all-day café Brightside, however, now the business has flipped back to its original moniker (minus the "coffee shop" part).
"Our band name has changed: We are now Just Another (From the artists formerly known as Brightside)," the cafe revealed Thursday (June 1). "Same great team and quality products," they added.
Launched at the end of 2022, Brightside (errr, Just Another) is known for its daytime cafe service, featuring baked goods, coffee, and brunch fare. In the evenings, the venue switches things up a bit to offer share plates with wine and cocktails.
The Just Another Coffee Shop/Brightside/Just Another story begins when the coffee biz slid into the space at 3040 West Broadway vacated in 2021 by one of Vancouver's leading doughnut destinations, Cartems, which had shuttered its third location, that February.
Soon after, Just Another Coffee Shop, with its minimalist branding and lighthearted attitude slid into the venue, running for about a year until April 2022.
Brightside opened the following December.
In what has become a growing trend in Vancouver, Just Another is among several new-ish concepts that double down on offerings, splitting their operating hours between daytime coffee shop and nighttime wine bar. For example, Novella, which does much the same, debuted at precisely the same time.
This is also the second name change in recent days for a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»restaurant; at the end of May, Kerrisdale's Land & Sea revealed it was rebranding under the name Okini.
Just Another currently serves brunch daily and its evening menu three nights a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 pm. Sunday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday. Follow them on Instagram at .
