Looking to lunch in Langley? Searching for snacks in Surrey? If you live, work, or play outside of the City of Vancouver, there are a few recent restaurant openings of note in case you're looking for somewhere new to put on your must-try list.

- North Vancouver

You don't have to die and go to heaven to find yourself somewhere that serves up a menu comprised of fried chicken and brioche doughnuts - you just have to go to North Vancouver. Cream Pony recently made its highly-anticipated debut, with a menu of buttermilk fried chicken and sweet and savoury doughnuts. The doughnuts start coming out of the fryer at 10 a.m., in flavours like Key Lime Cheesecake, Salted Caramel, or Mango Tajin, while chicken hits the menu starting at noon, in pieces or on sandwiches.

- Burnaby

The Singapore-based chain focused on Japanese tempura dishes is now open in Burnaby's Brentwood neighbourhood. It's the second Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­location for Tendon Kohaku, which recently moved into Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­and has been rumoured to also be looking at Station Square in Burnaby. Tendon Kohaku's signature dish is tiger prawn, chicken breast, shiitake mushroom, crabstick, squid, baby corn, green beans and pumpkin, all tempura fried, and served on rice with your choice of regular or spicy house sauce.

- Langley

Expect to find plenty of B.C. brews and ciders on tap at this new locally-focused spot in Langley. The independent venture actually has 50 taps, plus a robust cocktail program and a gastropub-style menu that showcases tons of local produce and ingredients.

- Richmond (Steveston)

It's a second outpost of the popular Korean chicken joint, with the Steveston location following in the footsteps of its Alexandra Road predecessor. Cocoru is what slid into the former Cimona space in the busy retail district by the wharf. You'll encounter much the same chicken and sides here, with what the owner has promised are “some twists” to the new menu. They're also teasing that the restaurant's "amazing washroom" is worth checking out.

- Maple Ridge

You've heard of "farm-to-table" but this new spot in Maple Ridge's motto is "bringing the tables to the farm." That's because Sunflower Cafe is located on the property of the Yellow House Farm - talk about farm-fresh food! The menu is the work of Chef Christopher Janowski, for whom Sunflower Cafe is a first solo restaurant venture.

- Surrey

The folks behind one of Surrey's most beloved hidden gems, Grandt Kitchen, have just opened the doors to Bayong Kitchen, offering the Fleetwood area their authentic Filipino eats. At Bayong, they're serving up Chicken Inihaw (flame-grilled chicken), silog (rice and egg dishes with meat), and several other traditional Filipino dishes.

- Delta (Ladner)

Richmond's lively brewpub restaurant has opened the doors to its second location in the region, this time in the heart of Ladner Village in South Delta. In addition to several craft brews flowing, expect to find a solid cocktail list and a range of dishes that swing from pub-inspired comfort grub like fish and chips to more delicate and refined plates like a passion fruit-laced crudo.
