While the VanDusen Botanical Garden is known for its plant life, this June there will be a particularly flowery period.
From June 21 to 30 Fleurs de Villes will be bringing its Artiste event to the popular outdoor site. Fleurs de Villes, a Vancouver-based company, has events going on around the world; Artiste has already been to places like Edinburgh, Toronto and Atlanta.
"Showcasing the works of top local florists, Fleurs de Villes Artiste will be a feast of cultural storytelling celebrating the arts through floral artistry like never before," states the company in a press release.
The highlight of the event will be "25 one-of-a-kind art-themed installations." While Artiste has been seen in different cities, each city has a unique show as local florists are the ones creating each installation.
"Fresh floral mannequins and spectacular installations will take visitors on a journey of discovery of the arts, from painting to sculpture, ballet to opera," reads the release.
The event will take place on the garden's Autumn Stroll area.
"(It) will include free workshops and seminars every 90 minutes. Guests can expect informative talks and demonstrations with topics ranging from bouquet making and ikebana, to floristry trends and flower arranging," states the parks board in a separate press release.
There will also be food, with Aperitivo Truck bringing Italian beverages and bites. Guests can also vote on their favourite piece, and there will be Fleurs de Villes branded merch in the VanDusen gift shop.
Tickets for the show will be $26 for adults, $22 for seniors or youths, $20 for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Botanical Garden Association members, $10 for children and free for children four and under.
