I just watched the Canuck's beat the Blues! The playoff hockey reminded me of an old 45 record I own. A Salute to the Canucks by King Richard's Army. The A side has the track Na a Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye. The first appearance of this song in hockey was in 1982, the organist for The 麻豆传媒映画Canucks, began playing the song and fans began singing along to it during the playoffs. This is also the playoff series, where the fans began waving the white towels. During the conference finals against the Chicago Blackhawks, 麻豆传媒映画coach Roger Neilson, fed up with what he felt was the poor performance of the officials in the game, placed a white towel on the end of a hockey stick and held it up in a gesture mocking surrender (waving the white flag). The players on the Canucks' bench followed suit. At the next game, the team's fans cheered their team on by waving white towels above their heads. The habit stuck, becoming an original Canuck fan tradition now seen across the league and in other sports, known as Towel Power. The Canucks proceeded to win that series, making it to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in their history.
I have included the song on side B. King Richard's Army, the voice over is awesome. Unfortunately I had to cut the song a bit short to make the file size quota.
