It's been almost 36 years since Expo 86 swept through Vancouver, and still the spirit remains in our city.
There are obvious reasons, like the highly-visible built structures like Science World and Canada Place (built in time for Expo). And then there are the troves of trinkets and collectibles, mostly hidden in shoe boxes and storage units.
We dug an Expo 86 Swatch out of one of those boxes, installed a new battery and were whisked away to a time when Swatch was on everybody's wrist, neon was in, and we were having a time watching Rainbow Wars after wolfing down a Quarter Pounder inside the McBarge.
Time flies.
