B.C. man creates giant Lego Christmas village over the span of 11 years

The Kelowna resident hopes to add to it in the future, despite limited space

Kelowna resident Jason Pettyjohn’s Lego creation is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

He has been working on a custom Lego winter village display for over a decade.

“I started this 11 years ago when my son was two months old. I decided I wanted to start a family tradition where we set up a Christmas village every year."

Pettyjohn says the village has evolved over the years.

“Every year we would just acquire new sets, more pieces and just getting new ideas and inspiration from searching online. Also just having to be creative with limited space while wanting to be as big as possible,” he said.

The village is about 16 inches tall, 63 inches wide and 16 inches deep.

“It is 100 per cent Lego bricks. There is no filler or support mechanisms in there. There is at least 25,000 pieces in total there. “

Pettyjohn says he is hopeful he will be able to continue to add to it.

“I have a lot more Christmas-themed ideas and Lego in storage. It just isn’t possible to display so I am trying to think of creative ways I can display them. Given the space that I have it on the top of that credenza, it is limiting. We will see what we can come up with in the future.”
