Remember when 鶹ýӳinstitution, Videomatica, shut the doors of its video rental store in 2011, marking the end of an era? Today UBC announced that the collection which was transferred to them after the closure - more than 35,000 titles on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray - have been catalogued and are now available for borrowing!

鶹ýӳphilanthropist Yosef Wosk made a donation and purchase agreement for the collection which includes feature films from more than 75 countries, documentaries, cult and art films, Canadian works and selections from the 鶹ýӳInternational Film Festival.
“The library is a natural home for our curated collection” says Graham Peat, a Videomatica co-founder and UBC alumnus. Co-founder Brian Bosworth, also a UBC alumnus, agreed: “We’re excited to re-introduce Videomatica to the community and see how it can be enjoyed for academic research and to bring public and campus groups together.”
The collection is at UBC Library’s Koerner branch, on UBC’s 鶹ýӳcampus, and the documentary collection is at SFU’s W.A.C. Bennett Library on its Burnaby campus. Visit the Videomatica collection’s website to learn more.
