Everything you need to know about the new direct flight from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to the Philippines

Canada's largest carrier has announced a new direct route connecting Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to Manila.

Canada's largest carrier has announced a new direct route connecting Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to the Philippines.

Air Canada will commence direct service between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) and Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) starting on April 2, 2025. The airline is the only Canadian carrier scheduled to serve the Philippines, presently the largest market in Asia without direct Air Canada service.

Flights from YVR to MNL take about 13 and a half hours while flights back home take just under 12.

The route will start with thrice-weekly service from YVR on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from April 2 to April 30, and from Manila on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Starting on May 1, the airline will increase its YVR-MNL service, with four flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and from Manila on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (see slide two).

Air Canada will operate its Manila flights with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft featuring three cabins of service, including Signature Class with lie-flat seats, Premium Economy and Economy Class.

Tickets for the new route are available on Air Canada's website, although they aren't as cheap as options involving a stopover. The cheapest return trips available in April start over $1,300 (see slide three).

Air Canada expands transpacific network

The new route marks Air Canada's third Southeast Asian destination launched in recent years. The carrier launched its seasonal, nonstop service between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Bangkok in December 2022. The carrier launched its direct service between YVR and Singapore’s Changi International Airport (SIN) in April 2024.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is the closest major North American city to Asia and the new Manila flight will be Air Canada's twelfth route in its transpacific network from YVR. The network includes Japan, South Korea, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Air Canada will offer over 180 weekly flights between Canada and the Pacific, the most non-stop flights of any carrier, solidifying its geographic position in the market.
