Metro Vancouverites looking to score low-cost flights from Labour Day sales still have a couple of opportunities.
Canada's second-largest airline, WestJet, has a special one-day offer following the busy holiday weekend on select flights.
Similarly, Sunwing Vacations is offering numerous discounts on packages to sun destinations from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR). The vacation supplier was acquired by WestJet in 2023 and plans to merge the two brands this fall.
Flair Airlines is also offering its $1 deal on base fares (the portion of the flight before taxes and fees) on northbound flights from popular sun destinations.
Air Canada fans will have to wait for reduced airfare costs. Canada's flag carrier doesn't have promotions, as its Labour Dale sale ended Monday, Sept. 2.
WestJet "Mystery" sale
WestJet's "mystery" promotion features tickets for 30 per cent off select base fares for travel between Sept. 4, 2024, and April 2, 2025.
This sale applies to wholly WestJet-operated flights (no codeshare itineraries with other airlines) within Canada and between Canada and the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
The following "blackout dates" apply: Dec. 19 to 31, 2024; Jan. 1 to 6, Feb. 14 to 17, March 7 to 10, March 14 to 17, March 21 to 24, and April 17 to 21, 2025.
Travellers must enter the discount code "MYSTERY" to take advantage of the offer. The sale ends on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 10:59 p.m.
The offer applies to UltraBasic and Econo classes.
WestJet "Save on all Destinations" sale
WestJet is also offering over 5,000,000 seats on sale for 30 per cent off base fares as part of its deal anywhere the airline flies.
Tickets don't need to be booked until Sept. 10 at 10:59 p.m. The sale applies to travel between Sept. 4, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
The offer applies to UltraBasic, Econo, Premium, and Business classes.
Sunwing Vacations "Back to School" sale
Sunwing Vacations is offering up to $1,200 off per pair for selection vacation packages to Cuba, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic as part of its "" promotion.
The offer is valid on travel through April 30, 2025, and tickets must be booked by Oct. 6.
Cuba has the cheapest offer from Vancouver, with seven-day, all-inclusive packages starting at just over $1,200 per person. For instance, one of these packages to Varadero staying at the Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda costs $1,275 (see slide two).
Mexico has the second-lowest-cost options from Vancouver, with trips starting at just over $1,300 per person. The Krystal Puerto Vallarta costs $1,385 per person for a seven-night, all-inclusive stay (see slide three).
Sunwing also offers substantial discounts on trips to the Dominican Republic from Vancouver. However, these packages typically cost more than other destinations. Travellers can stay at the four-star Sunscape Coco Punta Cana for $1,795 per person for a seven-night stay (previously $2,575 per person) (see slide four).
Flair Airlines
Flair Airlines recently launched its , featuring select northbound routes from Mexico, the U.S., Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic to Canada at only $1. The deal is ideal for travellers returning from sun destinations to their home cities or other places across Canada for a visit.
Travellers can enjoy the first $1 deal flying from the following airports: Cancun (CUN), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Orlando (MCO), and Las Vegas (LAS).
