After scrapping all of their service between the lower mainland and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Island, as well as on some smaller routes, due to Wednesday's "hurricane-force winds" and other adverse weather conditions, BC Ferries has also cancelled some morning sailings out of Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Thursday morning.
Two trips each out of Horseshoe Bay on the mainland and Departure Bay on the island have been cut today:
Queen of Cowichan
6:15 a.m. departing Departure Bay
8:25 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
Queen of Coquitlam
6:15 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
8:25 a.m. departing Departure Bay
Additionally, the Salish Eagle, connecting Comox and Powell River, has taken some morning sailings offline Thursday as well: 6:15 a.m. departing Comox (Little River) and 8:05 a.m. departing Powell River (Westview)
"The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so," says BC Ferries in their service advisory.
Anyone planning to travel Thursday with BC Ferries is reminded to frequently to be aware of service issues on routes.
