Back in May of 2021 we reported on an island off the Sunshine Coast selling for a little under a million bucks. Now there's an in northern B.C. for only $79,900.
While that may seem like a wild bargain, consider that the almost-million-dollar island had a couple things going for it - structures and location. It was not that far from Vancouver, and the previous owner had built some decent accommodations on it. However, if you're looking to buy recreational property this latest island listing might be up your alley.
It's 8 acres in size, and is one of three that make up the American Islands chain on Stuart Lake, 45 km from Fort St James, which is at the far east end of the lake.
Accessible by float plane or boat, the area it's in is a destination for outdoors lovers and fishers looking for trophy-sized catches.
The lake the island is located on is home to rainbow trout, lake trout, burbot (essentially a freshwater lingcod), kokanee, mountain whitefish, and sturgeon.
There's no zoning in place, so you could basically build whatever you like on it.
Oh, and the taxes on the property for 2021 were a mere $413.07.
