A Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­heritage home is for sale for the first time in over 60 years.

The large Kitsilano home located at 2704 West 12th Avenue is listed for $4,999,999 and spans across two 33-foot by 132-foot lots.

"This is an ideal opportunity for a heritage retention project that allows for the creation of extra new density at the rear of this 4,107 sq foot three-storey home," writes the . 

The residence was given a B-listing in the City of Vancouver's Heritage Register, meaning that the building "represents good examples of a particular style or type" and "may have some documented historical or cultural significance in a neighbourhood."

News of the home's listing was shared in a , and Vancouverites appear dismayed. 

Many people said that they would purchase the heritage home themselves if they could, while others shared nostalgic memories of the house. 

"Always gave a nod to the stained glass windows featuring irises," wrote one person of their commute past the old house. 

Others shared hearsay about the home's history. 

One person said that "the stonework was taken from either the first or second Hotel Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­tear demolition." Another local said that they "believe it was the Peric family that owned it [in the '60s]."
