We're knocking on doors and taking a look around peoples' homes to see where your neighbours relax, hang out with their pets, and create! It's an invitation to snoop, but we're staying away from their medicine cabinets.Photos:Â @art3fact |

Where do you live?
I live in what formerly was the Athlete’s Village on West 1st Ave. It’ s a 2 bedroom condo with a flex space and a fabulous balcony.
How would you describe your space?
I’d say it’s a pretty open and modern space. It’s dark wood. I love the way that they created the kitchen with the fridge and stove hidden, technically. I try to do modern design, nothing too crazy, but I like pops of colour and flowers and that sort of stuff. You can see from the door straight out to the balcony, and then with the bedrooms on either side you really can have your own personal space if you have house guests staying over.
What attracted you about this place?
There’s a lot of things to love about this place. One is the location; it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in a place that was the Athlete's Village and a piece of history. The layout if gorgeous. It’s floor to ceiling windows, looking out over the water. There’s a curve to the building, so the curves in the window just add to the ambiance and make it a little bit different that your typical box.
What do you do for work and how does your space play into that?
I own a public relations agency here in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and I work from home, so it’s great to have no commute. It’s a little challenging sometimes to keep focused while I’m looking out at the views and it’s such a beautiful day, but I really love it. I can plan my days too. If it's really nice, I’ll get up earlier and get things done so I can get out there and enjoy the day.
How big is your place?
It’s 1170 square feet.
When you were looking for places you had Archie (pictured with Betsy) to consider...so how does this work for the two of you?
This is great for me and Archie. I think there are 10 units on our floor, and at least 6 dogs so that’s amazing! They were a little hesitant in the beginning because he’s a rather large dog but there’s a park right there and it works really really well.
Does he have a territory in here?
Not really. He really likes sitting out on the balcony and watching everything go by. And then probably the office space is one of his favourite areas too because the floors are cold and he just loves to lounge there. He kinda has free reign.
Do you entertain a lot?
I entertain fairly often, just having friends over. Usually just grabbing a glass of wine, sitting on the balcony and just being able to sit and chat and hang out. Sometimes at night it’s just amazing. Looking out over the city when it’s dark, the lights of Yaletown are just amazing too.
Is there anything here you would change?
Maybe a little more office space...maybe a little more length.
Do you have a favourite part?
My favourite part is probably the living room and balcony. So sitting in the living room when it’s not so great out and just relaxing on my couch and looking outside, as well as the balcony on nice evenings is amazing. It really makes me feel connected. Because I work for home, that’s a big piece of the puzzle and feeling like I’m really connected even though I’m not out there talking to live people.
What else should people know about your place?
For me it’s about the environment. I know there's been so much negative publicity about the Athlete’s Village, but people are moving in every day. It’s an amazing community and when things start really bustling, it’s going to be amazing. The summer has so much going on, and I love being in the centre of it all. When people come in and see these spaces, it’s just awesome.
