Welcome to , a unique project inspired by and . I've moved my family into this community with my mission being to showcase the myriad of things that make it awesome by bringing you a weekly scoop! |
As I told you last week, over the past few months my friend Betsy Cooper has been working at opening the first pet store in the Village. will be opening in the same building that London Drugs is in, right next to the giant sparrows in the public square.
While they're millimetres from opening they held an open house - or, that is, open patio - at Tap & Barrel across the street and invited everybody to come down and get a look at some of the lines and products they're carrying and even pick some up for their dogs before they open.
Betsy and one of the latest transplants to the Village, young Frank!
Here's a small taste of what she had on hand. Our dog is now 7 years old and he's at a point where we might be switching him to a senior dog food, so I'm looking forward to finding a new food for him once they open. We currently have to drive up Main to buy food for our pooch and the convenience of not having to lug a 50 pound bag home from another neighbourhood is going to rule.
They'll also be stocking fresh, locally sourced treats for when we are just passing by for a walk.
You can tell when they're planning to open (before Christmas!) by some of the stock she's got.
I settled on a Christmas gift for our pooch (also named Frankie, but it's not the dude pictured above), a big of salmon skins. This is a local company that was spawned by the folks at Culinary Capers Catering. They found that they were composting all of the skin from the Ocean Wise wild BC salmon they were making during their catering jobs, and they figured it'd by a good idea to cut down to zero waste and turn that (sustainable!) byproduct into something for people's pets to enjoy. Amazing.
Stay tuned as I'll let you know the moment opens their doors!
