Two separate hit-and-runs with parked cars in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»caused extensive damage to all vehicles involved.
The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department's (VPD) Traffic Section shared a couple of images of damaged vehicles that were involved in accidents on Tuesday (Jan. 31).
In one incident, a good Samaritan called 911 to inform dispatchers that the driver of the blue truck was impaired. Police were able to stop the individual, who last held a valid license in 2020; they had a blood alcohol level two-and-a-half times above the legal limit.
The driver currently has a Class 7L License, which is a learner's permit that allows them to practice their driving skills in preparation for a road test, according to ICBC.
The VPD says they face "several charges."
There was also another hit-and-run with a parked vehicle that involved a red car shown in one of the images by the VPD on Twitter.
In June 2022, the VPD shared an image of a car that had crashed into a pole in Downtown Vancouver. VPD Sgt. Steve Addison commented that it was "completely 100 per cent avoidable."
Distracted drivers are also involved in multiple collisions across the city. In December 2022, a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»driver who was "adjusting his shoe" crashed into a tree and injured two passengers in the car.
