Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police have made an arrest for knife-point robberies this month that threatened Yaletown women in their homes.
The suspect, now in custody, was located by officers early Wednesday at around 3:30 a.m.
“Police responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in into a residence near Pacific Boulevard and Cambie Street,” detailed Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department Cst. Tania Visintin
The suspect was wielding a knife and attempted to rob the victim, the officer said. Only this time, the victim managed to run to the bathroom for safety and call for help.
The suspect fled the home.
Earlier in the month, the same incident happened to another woman.
“Officers were called to a home in the area of Nelson and Richards streets where a man had broken into a townhouse, threatened the homeowner with a knife, and then fled the area," Visintin said.
At the time, the suspect was not located.
Visintin said police investigators have determined the same suspect to be responsible for both of the Yaletown incidents.
“A person’s worst nightmare would be waking up to an unwelcome stranger in their home," the officer said.
Charges relating to the break-ins and the weapon have been recommended to Crown counsel for review and approval.
