Keep your umbrella handy.
Environment Canada is continuing a rainfall warning for Metro 鶹ýӳas a moist and unstable airmass brings bands of heavy showers into the region.
In a statement, the federal forecasting department says that the unstable airmass will continue to bring bands of heavy showers across Howe Sound, the Fraser Valley, and northern sections of Metro 鶹ýӳthrough this morning.
A risk of thunderstorms embedded in this system may further lead to brief, intense, localized downpours.
Across Metro Vancouver, 35 to over 100 mm of rainfall has fallen since Wednesday morning. Today, the forecast calls for an additional 20 to 30 mm of rainfall.
While the heavy showers are expected to ease somewhat this afternoon, the rain will redevelop tonight as the next system approaches the region.
This evening's forecast also calls for strong winds that will continue into Friday morning.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Environment Canada advises you to watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Metro Vancouverites have taken to social media to share videos of the torrential downpour, as well as comment on how they feel about the start of the rainy season.
