East Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»park to get big upgrades, new features

The park currently has an old playground, wading pool, a basketball court, and a field.

A local park is getting revamped.

Collingwood Park in Vancouver's Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood currently has an old playground, wading pool, a basketball court, and open areas with a softball diamond and field.

Earlier this week on March 27, the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Board of Parks and Recreation approved plans to renew the park. The list of changes includes both upgrades and new amenities.

Collingwood Park visitors can expect a renovated playground, more picnic tables and benches, a small plaza, and a multi-sports court with an integrated skateboard feature. The wading pool will be replaced with a small splash pad.

The playground's current features will be updated to include a climber, swings, trampoline, carousel, and playhouse. The Park Board also plans to plant 25 new trees in the park.

Construction is set to begin this winter and finish in the fall in 2024.
