A lucky 鶹ýӳman is a million dollars richer after picking up a lottery ticket during his regular coffee outing.
Gregory Eden picked up a Lotto 6/49 ticket for the draw worth $1 million from 7-Eleven on Burrard Street; he initially thought he won $1,000.
“I saw there were too many zeros so I kept checking it,” he recalled of the moment he realized he was a millionaire. “My first thought was, ‘I can’t believe it!’”
The Vancouverite was elated to share the news with his family.
“They were so happy as they knew they were going to be getting some help,” he said.
Aside from helping his family, Eden also wants to take a warm tropical holiday with his winnings.
“It feels really good to be able to help the family. I’ve always wanted to take a really nice holiday which I will soon be able to make a reality,” Eden said.
How does it feel to be a millionaire?
“Unbelievable! It’s quite the experience."
Metro 鶹ýӳhas seen its fair share of money-making Lotto 6/49 players over the past week. A lucky Vancouverite is $6 million richer after playing Lotto 6/49 on March 16 and an uncle-nephew duo in the Lower Mainland won a whopping $8 million playing Lotto 6/49 in the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 9.
A North 鶹ýӳcaregiver also cashed in a Lotto Max ticket for over $243,000 in the Dec. 31, 2021, draw.
In 2021, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $99 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
Remember, play for fun, not to make money.
