The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Park Board is notifying locals that it has temporarily closed sections of the seawall due to powerful winds and high tides.
On Friday (Jan. 7), Environment Canada issued a warning for Metro Vancouver of an intense low-pressure system. Most of Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»will see winds of 50 km/h gusting to 70. Areas closer to the coast will see stronger winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90. The strong winds will begin to ease through the afternoon.
Just after 9:30 a.m., the Park Board tweeted that sections of the seawall are closed due to the inclement weather.
"The rain has stopped, but high tides and strong winds can cause dangerous conditions near the water. Stay safe out there!" reads the tweet.
On Saturday, periods of snow totalling 2 cm are predicted to change to turn into periods of rain near noon with winds of 20 km/h.
