Relative starts fundraiser after Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­fire burns home, kills two dogs

Cree Lola Dreaver-Attig started a fundraiser for a family member and his wife who lost their belongings and two dogs in a fire that broke out in the Downtown Eastside on July 17. The fundraiser has raised just over $800 out of a $2,000 goal.

Around 30 firefighters responded to heavy smoke and a fire on the top floor of a two-story building in the Downtown Eastside on July 17.

While all the residents were able to escape unscathed, two dogs, Sadie and Linden, were discovered dead in the suite where the fire had started. 

Other residents on the same floor have been temporarily displaced due to smoke and water damage, but residents of the suite and Sadie and Linden's owners are displaced for a while longer.

A relative is working on a way to help.

Cree Lola Dreaver-Attig started a , who lost their belongings and two dogs in the fire. The money raised will help cover costs for food, shelter, clothing and hygiene products, according to the fundraiser page. 

"He never got a care package, just a pizza and a pop after the fire," Dreaver-Attig wrote to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­.

The relative adds that they have no other resources which is why they started the fundraiser. "It would help him a lot," they wrote.

As of July 23, the fundraiser has amassed just over $800 out of a goal of $2,000.
