Changes are being made to the Medical Services Plan (MSP) premiums that will see fees cut by 50% beginning Jan. 1, 2018 and the income threshold for exemptions increased.
The result should see a number of British Columbians exempt from fees, including an individual earning up to $26,000 per year, a couple earning up to $29,000 per year, a senior couple earning up to $35,000 per year, a single parent with two children earning up to $32,000 and a couple with two children earning up to $35,000.
As well, a task force is expected to report on March 31 the best approach to eliminating MSP premiums.
