Arguably Vancouver's most iconic sign, 'Dude Chilling Park,' is missing again, but an adequate replacement has appeared.
Strung up between the two signposts where the usual sign sits is a knit (or crocheted, we're not experts in the yarn-ier arts) sign. While it's a bit spider-webby, the new sign does indeed say 'Dude Chilling Park' (though it can be difficult to see when viewed against a snowy background).
The knit sign matches the signs for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»parks quite closely, with a similar shade of green, white outline and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Board of Parks and Recreation crest.
The original 'Dude Chilling Park' sign was a piece of unsanctioned art erected at Guelph Park where a piece of sanctioned public art sits, chilling. Eventually, the sign was sanctioned.
And stolen. Multiple times.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has reached out to the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»parks board to find out whether the missing sign has been stolen or if it's missing for a different reason. They said they'll get back to us, and we'll update this story when they do.
