The Wallflower Diner at 2420 Main St in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»closed permanently on July 12, 2022. We are learning about what local restaurant is already moving into the space for a second concept.

Sometimes when a restaurant closes its doors the space sits vacant for ages, and other times it seems the lock is turned for the last time and moments later the ink is drying on a lease for a new tenant.

When it comes to the Wallflower, a vegan- and veggie-friendly longstanding diner in Mount Pleasant, their former space on Main Street near Broadway isn't going to be empty long. The last day of business at the restaurant was July 12, and we already know that a fairly new wine and "snack bar" spot will be opening a second location at the address.

, which just opened up this spring at 1867 Powell St, is set to expand its portfolio already by moving into the former Wallflower.

The expansion should sit well with fans of the Wallflower's focus on veg alts to comfort classics and brunch fare. Wild Thing's snack bar is a day-to-night concept on the weekends, splitting the day into brunch and dinner service, with dinner available some weeknights.

Wild Thing's Powell Street menu is plant-forward and meat-free; everything is vegetarian but not strictly vegan. Some dishes feature eggs or dairy, however, several are fully plant-based or can be made plant-based.

For their venture at 2420 Main St, , and it sounds like the team is going to grow what they do rather than merely replicate which means more team members and an expanded menu that could feature some dishes with meat, along with a slightly tweaked name (just "Wild Thing").

The new Wild Thing will open Halloween weekend, according to the restaurant's new Instagram account. Follow  for updates and more info as it becomes available.
