A new themed afternoon tea experience will whisk you away to an elegant garden party, inspired by the Victorian era in London and La Belle Epoque in France.
Called "Let Them Eat Cake!" the tea service is a new, limited-run offering from H Tasting Lounge, already one of Vancouver's favourite destinations for an upscale afternoon tea experience.
Taking some liberties with time periods, the new H Tasting Lounge tea offering offers hints of Bridgerton-esque frivolity from the early 1800s, Victorian refinement of the mid-1800s, and the decadence of France at the end of the 19th century.
H Tasting Lounge already banks on whimsy for their signature afternoon tea, which always features a suspended cloud of pink cotton candy and a ferris wheel stand for holding all your sweet and savoury bites. The restaurant's beautiful floral dishes and flatware fit right in with the colourful, elegant theme, as do the delicious spins on teatime eats and treats.
Executive Chef Steve Rutherford and Pastry Chef Martha Ebro have created a menu of delectable small bites made with regionally-sourced ingredients that will fill you to the brim, starting with Bayshore Honey, Lavender & White Chocolate Scones with housemade clotted cream and fresh jam, and featuring things like a blini with smoked salmon and caviar and finger sandwiches. Satisfy your sweet tooth with gorgeous creations like the rich "Chocolate Dome" made with Valrhona Guanaja 70% dark chocolate mousse and a crunchy hazelnut glaze or the fruity-sweet "Eton Mess” Cheesecake with raspberry meringue, Chantilly cream, and edible flowers.
Alongside your afternoon tea food is, of course, your pot of loose-leaf tea from O-Five and Tealeaves, with a number of options for any taste buds.
Dressing up isn't required, but you would certainly feel right at home among the vibrant floral displays and plush seats if you were dressed for an elegant time-bending European garden party.
