There's a bit of a change-up underway along West Broadway at Oak when it comes to fast-casual dining options.
, the Coquitlam-based Mexican eatery, has closed down its Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»location at 792 W Broadway.
Opened at the end of 2019, the taco spot shuttered briefly during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vancouver, but reopened June 1, 2020.
The restaurant appears to have shut down in the last couple of weeks of 2022, and the West Broadway Loz Takos no longer appears on the business' website.
The "urban taqueria concept" continues to offer catering, and has a restaurant in Coquitlam. The company was seeking to expand via franchising.
A Loz Takos operations manager and partner confirmed with V.I.A. via email the location shuttered Dec. 15, 2022, and indicates plans are to shift focus to an upcoming location in neighbouring Burnaby.
Local fried chicken chain moving in on West Broadway
It appears, however, that another local food business is set to take over at the former Loz Takos. 792 W Broadway on its website as one of its locations "coming soon."
The fried chicken spot began on Marine Drive in South Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»before adding a second location on 10th Avenue in Burnaby in the fall of 2018. Since then, the chain has expanded across the region; they have a third Burnaby outpost, and one apiece in Maple Ridge and Richmond.
According to Hi-Five's website, the fried chicken fast-food biz is also planning to open restaurant locations in Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, and Victoria, in addition to the one planned for the former Loz Takos space in Vancouver.
