It's the end of an era: , a staple for Vietnamese eats in Vancouver's Yaletown will close for good this month.
The casual sandwich shop announced recently its last day of business would be lunch service on July 17.
"10 years ago, our idea for a food truck fortuitously spawned into a bánh mì shop in Yaletown. We found a way to put awesome into a baguette and it has led us on an amazing journey," .
With gratitude to the last decade of staff and customers, DD Mau's Yaletown outpost offers a glimmer of good news amidst the sadness of closing: "As we reach the end of this road in Yaletown, we will continue our journey at the Chinatown location."
The DD Mau banh mi and noodle shop at 1239 Pacific Blvd had been listed for sale for some time ahead of the restaurant's heartfelt closing announcement.
"DD Mau (Go-go-fast in Vietnamese) started off as an idea for a food truck and since then has spawned into a dream to share our love for Vietnamese cuisine," explain owners 膫n and Ng峄� Ngon on the DD Mau website.
The Yaletown location opened in 2012, and the followed in 2018.
While the Chinatown outpost offers an expanded menu of Vietnamese street food and is open in the evening, Yaletown's DD Mau remained a daytime-only spot centred quick lunchtime eats.
