Fans of 's elegant and restrained omakase (chef's choice) nigiri sushi dining experience will have to be patient for a few weeks as the popular Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»restaurant moves into a new space.
Previously located at 1226 Bute St, Sushi Bar Maumi closed up shop on Aug. 28 in preparation for its next chapter at 1668 Robson St.
The Robson Street space in the busy West End was a Pokerrito poke shop location for about four years, and Sushi Itoga before that.
The Sushi Bar Maumi operators have offered guests a grateful update about the move and what to expect when they are ready to resume service: "We’re aiming to reopen by the end of September once the renovations are complete. We will update on the progress via our website, , and . Reservations will only be available online, and we will notify you when we're ready to accept them. We appreciate your continued support," reads the sushi bar's website.
Sushi Bar Maumi is not only beloved by locals and visitors alike but also recommended by the prestigious Michelin Guide.
"Sushi omakases can be serious affairs that cost as much as a ticket to Tokyo, but this little counter by Chef Maumi Ozaki is a refreshingly affordable alternative," reads the Michelin Guide's .
