Huge. Epic. Massive. How else would you describe the (delicious) product of a mash-up between two of Vancouver's top fried chicken restaurants when that product (among others) is a sandwich the size of your head?
You'll have your chance to come up with the most fitting superlative soon, as and team up for their wildly popular collaboration event, .
The third installation of this tantalizing meeting of the minds between some of the city's most popular fried chicken dishes will find folks flocking to New Westminster's Steel & Oak brewery on Saturday, August 12.
Starting at 11 a.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. - or supplies run out - this one-day event will feature a special menu featuring several dishes created by the teams at Juke and DL Chicken, with lots of menu mash-up moments, from signature components and sauces joining forces.
The plan is to turn the Steel & Oak parking lot into "a whole experience," according to DL Chicken's Doug Stephen in a media release. Expect picnic tables, all the grub, beer and Steel & Oak's special hard mango seltzer (a taproom-only exclusive), with live entertainment.
"We always love bringing our restaurants on a road trip to meet new people and expand our communities,” said Bryan Satterford, who co-owns Juke Fried Chicken with Justin Tisdall.
"It’s going to be a great Saturday!” added Stephen.
Main dishes range in price from $11 to $21, and include concoctions like Jerk Chicken Drums, a DLJ 'Ribwich' Sando, featuring a grilled patty made of ground rib meat glazed with Juke's BBQ sauce, or the behemoth "Chicken & Rib Sando" which features not only the rib patty but also Juke's signature gluten-free fried chicken coated with DL's Hot Chicken Spices (available in classic, milk, medium, hot, extra hot, or the fiery "side of milk" spice levels) served on a pillowy bun with a limited-edition BBQ mayo, pickles, slaw, and pickled red onions.
You can also get juicy and generously portioned fried chicken "Nuggie'z" with your choice of Juke Honey Mustard or DL Sweet and Sour sauces for dipping.
Sides include menu familiars like Juke's Asian Peanut Slaw, along with a Juke x DL Summer Potato Salad, and grilled Mexican-style street corn with all the trimmings.
A combo meal for two is also available (thought, to be fair, the Chicken & Rib Sando could easily feed two people on its own - it's that big!).
The Juke and DL collab has proven a big draw in the past, and there are no pre-orders available, so you'll have to take your chances - and bring your appetite - the day-of and head to Steel & Oak (1319 3rd Ave, New Westminster) on Saturday.
