Bean Banh Mi sandwich shop on Kingsway is closing down as of March 6, 2023.

Monday (March 6) was the last official day of business for modern Vietnamese sandwich shop Bean Banh Mi on Kingsway.

In a notice posted on social media and on the door, Bean says it's "with heavy hearts and great consideration," that they close up shop.

"We want to thank everyone for the continued love and support all these years. We only made it because of all of you," reads the caption of a flipping a peace sign with the words "Peace out, Vancouver/It's bean a pleasure."

"Thank you for giving the little guys a chance and supporting us," the caption continues. "Thank you for all the memories and smiles, we will cherish them forever. Thank you for everything and more."

The social media posts announcing the closure are the first since 2021 for the business but the responses from followers have been supportive yet mournful.

Neighbouring tattoo shop Two Tides Tattoo wrote, "there goes our lunch spot. We loved having you in the neighbourhood...will miss this place."

Another commenter wrote, "your banh mi shop has been my family’s favourite since day [one]! Thank you so much for feeding us! We will miss you."

Someone else called the closure, "sad news," saying, "we enjoyed Bean so much these last few years, my family favourite. Thank you so much for giving the community your talent and consideration especially during Covid times. Hope you have good, happy future in whatever you do next!"

V.I.A. attempted to contact Bean Banh Mi but no one answered the phone.
