From their humble roots in a Tofino parking lot, has become a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»restaurant powerhouse, and now they are expanding their portfolio by adding a fifth location in the city--this time in Mount Pleasant at 8 East 5th Avenue.
Moving into the refurbished Lightworks Building, which is an art-deco heritage property at the corner of 5th and Ontario dating back to 1942, Tacofino will have 2,800 square feet for their 100-seat restaurant. The room will star an expansive horseshoe-shaped bar, too (perfect for an after work tipple, for sure).
And since no two Tacofinos are entirely alike, expect to find a few different menu items here from Regional Executive Chef Stefan Hartmann. Of course, we can expect those delicious ingredients will be served in the form of burritos, tacos--including their signature fish taco. They can't NOT, right?
As for the interior, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»designer Shiloh Sukkau is back to work with Tacofino to create a space that fits the brand's Tofino-born Pacific shore laid-back vibe. Sukkau previously designed their Gastown, Yaletown, and Downtown "Oasis" locations.
You can expect to find unfinished materials and a muted colour palette that contrasts with folk art-inspired decorative flower motifs at the Mount Pleasant location.
And speaking of location, this neighbourhood is getting more awesome by the minute, thanks to the impending arrival of a few other great spots, like the second location of , a , and .
With a restaurant opening, the timeline is tenuous at best, so for now it's safe to say we're looking at ideally an early fall open. For updates, you can follow .
