One of New Westminster’s best restaurants is expanding its empire to include a new deli.
And it’s taking over an old Starbucks space to do it.
Artusi Restaurant is located at 412 – 6th St. and has been feeding people their own brand of find Italian food.
Now it’s set to open Gastronomia Italia at 601 Columbia St.
“Gastronomia Italia Grocery & Deli is the creation of Artusi’s co-owner & Chef, Delbert Cirfera - inspired by Italian gastronomy, and his continuing passion for making authentically beautiful food a part of your every day,” reads an Instagram post. “Please follow for inspirations and inside peeks on their way to opening in March!”
Expect Gastronomia Italia to sell all those find Italian items that are tough to get in a regular grocery store.
When rustic breads, fine cheeses, cured meats, flavoursome antipasto and fresh herbs are all traditional foundations of your cuisine…making big beautiful sandwiches just makes perfect sense,” reads a company post. “Schiacciata is a sturdy and crunchy bread, which is also light and easy to digest - making it the perfect choice to contain and complement the bountiful colours, textures and flavours of Italian sandwiches. We will bake bread and craft our signature selection of sandwiches daily - made fresh and bursting with authentic ingredients, for your portable pleasure.”
