Cielito Lindo is a new Mexican restaurant in Vancouver.

Gastown has a new place to take your "."

, named after the famous Mexican folk song (even if the name isn't familiar, it's likely ), has opened at 122 W Hastings St. On its site, the owners promise an immersive experience that takes people "to the heart of Mexico."

"Step right up to our restaurant where we proudly declare, 'No burritos here, amigos!' Instead, we offer the real deal — authentic Mexican cuisine," reads the site.

The menu is true to the declaration, with tortas, tacos and soups, but no burritos. Licuachelas, a spicy version of Michelada that's gaining popularity in Mexico, are also on offer.

Along with the restaurant, it has a small retail space with Mexican snacks, candies and made-in-house tortillas.

The restaurant opened with a soft launch in mid-July.

It's open daily from 10 a.m. to to 10 p.m. (with brunch offerings), except on Sundays, when it closes at 5 p.m.

Before Cielito Lindo, 122 W Hastings was home to Catch 122, a popular brunch spot that spent a decade in Gastown; it has since moved to North Vancouver.
