³Nick’s Spaghetti House closed down late last year after over 60 years in the game, there were many tears shed over final plates of pasta. Now the crew behind Savio Volpe have breathed new life into the restaurant, re-named in honour of Pepino, the "spaghetti mouse" immortalized in song. Expect classic red sauce fare and a dim, cozy room.

Ready to feel the burn? Vancouver’s first restaurant devoted to Nashville hot chicken, the DownLow Chicken Shack, is open. On the menu: Fiery hot fried chicken. The made to order chicken comes in spice levels (mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and “A side of Milk”--aka extremely hot), and can be ordered up solo or in sandwiches, with sides like coleslaw, corn bread, pickles, macaroni salad, fries, and sweet tea.

This new concept in the 鶹ýӳsuburb is taking things to the next level with their cafe-fine dining hybrid. Origo Club offers customers coffee and tea with pastries and light bites by day, and French-inspired elegance by night, plus an adjacent gallery.

It seemed like this one was NEVER going to open, but after years, it finally did. This downtown spot has breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, and juice covered. Think fresh, healthy-focused fare like salads and sandwiches.

The project of some pizza biz pros, Hustle Pizza Co. on Commercial Drive specializes in hot, fresh pizza by the slice, with a big focus on plant-based eating. About half the menu is vegan, with the option of subbing non-dairy cheese on the vegetarian selections making the fully plant-based selection even more robust. That said, omnivores will also find plenty to enjoy on the menu, with classics like pepperoni and Hawaiian, of course.

Ramen Taka, which opened up recently on Bidwell Street right off Robson, is a Japanese import ramen shop with some unique items, like their Hokkaido-style ramen with extra hot pork and seafood broth. Plus, they've got a vegan ramen dish, and they can set you up with an at-home ramen kit you can microwave and assemble on your own.
