A local Mexican restaurant that began in Burnaby and expanded to 鶹ýӳhas now closed both of its locations.
Don Oso's Restaurant, which launched in the fall of 2020 at 4421 Hastings St in Burnaby, closed its 鶹ýӳlocation at 1305 Commercial Dr at the end of January after a three-year run.
Soon after the 鶹ýӳclosure, the Don Oso owners shared on social media that the decision to close was based on finances.
"Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, with the rising operating costs these days, we've been unable to overcome financial challenges in these hard times," a post on the now-defunct Don Oso's Restaurant's Instagram read at the time.
While at the time Don Oso's continued to operate its original casual restaurant in North Burnaby, as March got underway, the business changed hands and is in the process of rebranding as under its new ownership.
However, Sabrosito plans to continue to offer the same menu of tacos and burritos and specialties like house-made empanadas. Don Oso was among the first restaurants in Metro 鶹ýӳto put quesabirria tacos on the menu, those saucy, meaty, tacos served with a beef broth for dipping, and Sabrosito is still serving up birria.
Sabrosito has an Instagram account () but does not currently have a website or restaurant signage up.
For its part, Don Oso's has taken down its social media and its website is gone.
