19 Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»restaurants rank among Canada’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021

Locals love a little spot for Lebanese "pizza," a quirky decades-old diner with a curious backstory, and lots of sushi.

Vancouver's spot for Lebanese 'pizza,' Manoush'eh, ranked second on a list of 100 top places to eat in Canada.

Looking for your next favourite restaurant? Listings and consumer review site Yelp has compiled its list of "Canada's 100 Top Places to Eat in 2021" and the rankings feature an impressive 19 spots in Metro Vancouver.

Among the dozen spots located within Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is , which took the number two spot on the nationwide list. The Davie Street spot specializes in what's called "Lebanese pizza," the "cherished national pie" of Syria. Elsewhere on the list from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»are local faves like for baked goods, for a modern high-end meal, and one of the city's oldest and most unusual restaurants, the Northern Cafe and Grill, which is located above the hardware shop on the property of Northern Building. They've said it's been around since the 1960s, but other reports pin it back to the 1940s, and the spot is known for its irreverent attitude and menu of Chinese-Canadian diner fare.

Around the region, places like Richmond's  - a destination for Armenian fare - as well as North Vancouver's made the "Top 100" from Yelpers, as did New Westminster's hot spot for Lebanese eats, Wild Thyme.

Further afield, Yelpers scored places like The Rimrock and Peaked Pies in Whistler high on their lists, along with Corner Nook in Chilliwack and Saha Eatery up in Squamish.

Yelp explains its methodology as follows: "To determine Yelp’s Top Places to Eat in Canada in 2021, Yelp reached out to the user community first, requesting individuals to submit restaurants that they can't wait to return to in 2021 in Canada. Yelp’s data science team analyzed the submissions from the community to determine the top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions, with geographic representation based on equal share of submissions of top-rated restaurants nationally. Yelp further curated the list with the expertise of our Community Managers around the country to finalize the rankings. The resulting list is collaborative and passion driven - an accurate reflection of Yelp community itself."
