A Vancouver-based pastry chef is turning his custom cakes and treat business into a full-fledged dessert cafe.
Melo Patisserie will be opening soon at 154 East 8th Avenue in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. They've revealed on their Instagram stories that opening day is slated for August 1.
Taking over the space that was previously occupied by Nice Cafe, Melo has been working on the space since the beloved diner's sudden shutter last September.
Creating pastries both locally and globally for the last several years, Chef Melo makes sweet treats ranging from special occasion cakes to casual cookies. You'll find things like tarts, truffles, and tea cakes. Melo also makes classic French pastries like Gateau Saint Honore and macarons.
One of Chef Melo's specialties is enrobing cakes and treats in his chocolate mirror glaze.
The café will also feature a coffee and tea program, and items like jars of Melo jam.
